-Students will then discuss safety awareness throughout the month of October to prepare for the lessons they will create for other students.

-Students will brainstorm a list of safety techniques they use or should use every day.

Step 2: Action

-Students will choose from the list of safety techniques that are most important to Halloween and create informational posters and pamphlets to display in local child centers.

-Students will also be going to St. Elizabeth’s Toddler Inn and present Halloween Safety to the Kindergartener’s through skits/plays or possibly Power Point Presentations.

-Posters will be displayed in the halls of R. C. Hinsdale to inform other grades about the importance of safety.

Step 3: Reflection

-Throughout the project, students will be responsible for journal entries including what they’ve learned, how the project has benefited them, how future projects can be implemented smoothly, etc.

-Group discussions will be held with peers and teachers as facilitators.

Step 4: Celebration

-Students will be recognized over the school intercom in the morning for their contribution and hard work towards promoting safety.

-As a part of the Halloween Celebration they will be having a party, and students who participated in Service Learning will receive free tickets to attend. Recognition will be given at the party as well.
